Hello, I'm Helen and my journey into canine massage began when I saw a canine massage therapist at work. It had the most profound effect on me because of the impact it had on the dog and I decided pretty much on the spot that was what I wanted to do.
I researched places that taught canine massage and decided that the course I considered to be the most comprehensive and professional available, was at the Chicago School of Canine Massage. I completed intensive hands on training in Chicago and followed that up with extensive homework including case studies and observation hours back in NZ. I am now a Nationally Certified Canine Massage Therapist having completed their Advanced Canine Massage Mentorship programme. I am also proud to be a Certified Practitioner Member of the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage (NBCAAM)....the first person in NZ to obtain this level of certification.
In addition, I obtained a Level 5 short course qualification in canine behaviour and care from UCOL in Palmerston North, and am PetTech First Aid and CPR certified. I have also been a regular volunteer at
the SPCA in Auckland for a number of years and am a Voting member on the Board for Project Jonah [www.projectjonah.org.nz].
Auckland Canine Massage is my dream and my passion. I have massaged dogs with two legs, three legs and all four! I have massaged pampered pooches, dogs in pain, post-surgery, geriatric dogs, shelter dogs and many more.
You can check out my blog to see more about the course itself and the dogs I have met along the way.
